Witkoff and Kushner again postponed their visit to Kyiv: reasons
The planned visit to Kyiv by US President Donald Trump’s special representatives Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner has been postponed again, due to increased Russian missile and drone attacks on the capital.
This was reported by Radio Liberty journalist Alexa Raufoglu.
According to Raufoglu, the trip of American representatives was postponed after Russian strikes on Kyiv intensified last week.
“According to my sources, the long-awaited trip of Witkoff and Kushner to Ukraine has been slightly postponed, but not canceled – due to the intensification of missile and drone strikes on Kyiv last week,” the journalist wrote.
At the same time, he noted that Witkoff and Kushner still plan to visit Ukraine. A new date for their arrival has not yet been announced.
Alexander Stubb said that the US president’s representatives are not going to Kyiv because they currently do not see sufficient prerequisites to achieve a result. According to him, the main problem in the negotiations remains Russia’s position, which does not demonstrate readiness to establish peace.
It was previously reported that the White House has not yet confirmed the visit of US President’s special representative Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner to Kyiv . It was previously expected that they could arrive in Ukraine in the second half of August, in particular on Independence Day.
The day before, it became known that Witkoff and Kushner may come to Kyiv in the second half of August and take part in events marking the 35th anniversary of Ukraine’s Independence.
