“Work” abroad: Chop resident sold women in a brothel in Qatar

In Transcarpathia, law enforcement officers uncovered a human trafficking scheme organized by a 23-year-old resident of Transcarpathia.

This was reported by the press service of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine.

A resident of the city of Chop sent Ukrainian women abroad for sexual exploitation, promising high-paying jobs in the Middle East. The suspect sought victims among those who were in difficult situations or needed money.

During the operation, law enforcement officers recorded an attempt to illegally smuggle two Ukrainian women through the Chop border crossing to the Czech Republic. They were planned to be sent to brothels in Qatar and Jordan.

The organizer of the “scheme!” was detained in Chop. During the searches, evidence was seized – documents, draft notes, bank cards, mobile phones, and other equipment used to organize the crime.

The channel for the illegal export of Ukrainian women operated for a long time and was eliminated together with the migration police.

The woman was informed of suspicion of committing a criminal offense under Part 2 of Article 149 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine “Trafficking in Human Beings”.

She is being held on bail of UAH 302,000. The investigation is ongoing.

The Council of Europe previously reported that the risk of human trafficking has significantly increased due to Russia’s war in Ukraine .

By the way, in the Odessa region , border guards, together with law enforcement officers, exposed a woman who was sending Ukrainian women abroad into “sexual slavery.”
