According to the assessments of the US President’s special envoy Steve Witkoff, after the meeting of the Coalition of the Willing in France, there has been significant progress in resolving the war in Ukraine.
This was reported by “European Truth”.
The official noted that members of the Coalition of the Willing are serious about achieving peace.
According to Witkoff, work on security protocols important to the Ukrainian people is “largely complete.”
“We are very, very close to completing a prosperity agreement that will be the strongest ever concluded by countries emerging from similar conflicts, and which we hope will open up tremendous opportunities for the Ukrainian people. And we believe that a strong economy correlates and works directly with these security protocols,” the US special representative said.
However, the territorial issue remains unresolved at this time. According to Witkoff, the parties will return to discussing this topic.
“We hope that we will be able to reach some compromises on this issue, but I want to say this. We are here to mediate and assist in the peace process, and we are ready to do whatever is necessary to achieve this goal,” he concluded.
As a reminder, Witkoff announced new negotiations with the Ukrainian side regarding security guarantees. They will take place on January 7.
Earlier, the Ukrainian and French presidents and the British Prime Minister signed a declaration of intent regarding the future deployment of multinational forces in Ukraine.
By the way, officials from some European countries hope to deploy up to 30,000 peacekeepers in Ukraine as part of the deployment of a foreign contingent after the ceasefire.
As is known, the draft communiqué of the Coalition of the Willing meeting states that the United States will help ensure a ceasefire in Ukraine through intelligence and logistics.
