Xi Jinping called on Trump for partnership: “We should be partners, not rivals”

Chinese President Xi Jinping arrived in Washington on September 23 for a state visit at the invitation of US President Donald Trump. Upon arrival, he called on Beijing and Washington to develop stable relations and be partners, not rivals.
The Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported this.
In his written statement, Xi Jinping noted that the interests of China and the United States are closely intertwined, and the goals of the two countries can be realized in parallel.
He said the “great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation” and Trump’s goal of “making America great again” can complement each other and benefit the world.
The Chinese leader also recalled that during Trump’s visit to China in May, they agreed to build “constructive, strategically stable relations.” Xi called for continuing this course and establishing a model of interaction in which cooperation remains the foundation, competition is limited, and disagreements are managed.
“Both sides should move towards each other,” Xi Jinping said, adding that he believes peaceful coexistence between the two countries is possible.
During his talks with Trump, the Chinese leader intends to discuss bilateral relations and the international situation, as well as expanding cooperation between the countries in various areas.
Xi Jinping’s visit to the United States will last several days. He was personally greeted at Andrews Air Force Base by Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump. The leaders’ main talks are scheduled for September 24 in Washington.
Earlier, Chinese leader Xi Jinping stated that China is ready to work more actively towards a peaceful resolution of conflicts in Ukraine , the Middle East, and Afghanistan.
As a reminder, it was reported back in July that Chinese President Xi Jinping would visit the United States on September 24. During his meeting with President Donald Trump, the two sides plan to discuss, among other things, the development of artificial intelligence.
