Xi Jinping congratulated Ukraine on Independence Day

Chinese President Xi Jinping sent congratulations to Ukraine on the occasion of Independence Day and expressed hope for sustainable and long-term development of bilateral relations.

The letter was published by President Volodymyr Zelensky on the social network X on August 24.

“On the occasion of Ukraine’s Independence Day, I congratulate the friendly Ukrainian people. China and Ukraine have traditionally had friendly relations. Over the past 33 years, diplomatic ties have developed steadily, and cooperation in various fields has yielded good results,” Xi Jinping noted.

The Chinese leader also assured his readiness to cooperate to strengthen bilateral relations for the benefit of the peoples of both countries.

In response, Zelensky thanked Xi Jinping and confirmed Ukraine’s interest in developing a long-term dialogue based on mutual respect for the sake of peace, stability and prosperity.

Earlier, US President Donald Trump congratulated Ukrainians on Independence Day, noting support for Ukraine’s sovereignty and future.
