Ukrainian track and field athlete Yaroslava Mahuchikh won gold at the 2026 European Championships in Birmingham. This is the 24-year-old athlete’s third European Championship title in the high jump.
Maguchikh began the final with a clearance of 1.92 meters, clearing it on her first attempt. At 1.95 meters, the Ukrainian made her first mistake, but cleared the bar on her second attempt.
Maguchikh’s winning height was 1.97 meters, which the Ukrainian cleared on her first attempt. None of her competitors were able to match this result, and after three unsuccessful jumps, she retired.
Poland’s Maria Jodzik won the silver medal with a result of 1.95 m. Bronze went to Montenegro’s Marija Vukovic, who also cleared 1.95 m.
Another Ukrainian, Iryna Gerashchenko, finished fifth. She cleared 1.92 m, but failed to clear 1.95 m three times. This was Gerashchenko’s first major international competition since becoming pregnant.
Thus, Maguchikh repeated her success at the 2022 and 2024 European Championships and became the best high jumper on the continent for the third time.
