Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi stated that in 2026, Ukraine plans to conduct offensive operations alongside strategic defense. The goal of such actions is to maintain the operational initiative and force the enemy to expend resources.
This is reported by LB.ua.
Syrsky noted that Russia’s strategic goals remain unchanged, as the aggressor continues to seek to capture all of Ukraine. According to him, only the timing, volume of weapons, and number of personnel are changing for the Russian side.
The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine emphasized that Ukraine is forced to conduct a strategic defensive operation, while at the same time realizing the limitations of exclusively defensive actions.
“Therefore, we will conduct a strategic defensive operation, while we understand that you will not win in defense,” said Oleksandr Syrsky.
He explained that it is for this reason that the Ukrainian army plans to carry out offensive operations. Such actions are aimed at retaining the operational initiative and forcing the enemy to spend significant resources on deterrence.
Separately, Syrsky noted the effectiveness of asymmetric actions and reported on the further development of the Special Operations Forces.
“The special operations forces have achieved a sufficiently high level of development and quality,” said the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
By the way, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky expressed hope that the war unleashed by Russia will end in 2026 .
Recall that, according to the assessments of the US President’s special envoy Steve Witkoff, after the meeting of the Coalition of the Willing in France, there has been significant progress in resolving the war in Ukraine.
As is known, the draft communiqué of the Coalition of the Willing meeting states that the United States will help ensure a ceasefire in Ukraine through intelligence and logistics.
