Zaporizhzhya NPP has been operating on diesel generators for over a week – the Ministry of Energy has warned of the risks.

The Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant has been operating on backup diesel generators for over a week, creating serious safety risks.

Deputy Minister of Energy for European Integration Olga Yukhimchuk announced this during a telethon.

According to her, neither the generators nor the station itself are designed to operate for such a long time in this mode. It is also known that one of the generators has already failed, and the Russian side was forced to repair it.

The Ministry of Energy emphasized that there is currently no reliable data on the guaranteed operating life of the equipment under such loads. The situation is further complicated by the gradual degradation of systems and the impossibility of scheduled maintenance, which could lead to generator failure, shutdown of the nuclear fuel cooling system, and the shutdown of critical safety systems.

Ukraine called on the IAEA and international partners to take urgent measures to restore the Zaporizhzhya NPP’s backup power supply.

As a reminder, the National Resistance Center stated that the fuel crisis in the temporarily occupied territories poses a security threat at the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant.

As Energoatom reported, Russian infidels are deliberately not connecting the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant to external power . The blackout at the plant continues, posing critical risks for Ukraine and Europe. Such enemy actions could lead to a nuclear catastrophe.
