President Volodymyr Zelensky said he had agreed on the text of a bill that would strengthen the independence of anti-corruption agencies and protect the law enforcement system from Russian influence.

He announced this on social networks.

He stressed that the document is balanced and provides real tools for strengthening the law and order system in Ukraine. Today, the bill will be submitted to the Verkhovna Rada.

Let us recall that on July 24, 48 deputies from different factions registered a separate bill on the return of independence to NABU and SAP.

Let us recall that on July 22, the Verkhovna Rada voted for a bill that significantly limits the powers of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NABU) and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office (SAPO) , effectively subordinating their activities to the Prosecutor General.

It should be noted that Volodymyr Zelensky signed a resonant law that significantly changes the powers of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NABU) and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office (SAPO), strengthening control by the Prosecutor General.

By the way, the Verkhovna Rada plans to prepare a submission to the Constitutional Court of Ukraine with the aim of repealing Law No. 12414, which limits the independence of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NABU) and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office (SAPO).
