Zelensky and Latvian Prime Minister sign defense agreement during meeting in Tallinn

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy held his first meeting with the new Prime Minister of Latvia, Andris Kulbergs, during his visit to Tallinn. Following the talks, the parties signed the Drone Deal on cooperation in the defense sector.

This is stated on the website of the President of Ukraine.

Zelenskyy congratulated Kulbergs on his recent appointment to the position and thanked Latvia for its support for Ukraine since the start of the full-scale war.

“We are always glad to see our Latvian friends. We know that we can count on your support,” said the head of state.

The Prime Minister of Latvia assured of continued support for Ukraine and the Ukrainians currently living in his country.

During the meeting, Zelensky and Kulbergs signed the Drone Deal. This is the sixth agreement of this format that Ukraine has concluded with international partners.

The document provides for cooperation in the field of drone production, development of defense technologies, exchange of experience and knowledge, as well as support for the Ukrainian defense-industrial complex.

In addition, Latvia will continue to assist Ukraine in the field of air and missile defense, as well as finance individual defense projects.

Separately, the parties discussed strengthening sanctions against Russia, in particular restrictions on the Russian shadow fleet, which is used to circumvent sanctions when exporting energy resources.
