President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced the preparation of new sanctions against persons who help Russia in the war.
He wrote about this in Telegram.
According to him, Ukraine will prepare at least one package of sanctions against individuals working with the Russian military industry. The restrictions will apply not only to Russians, but also to citizens of other countries, including China.
Restrictions are also being developed against those who justify the Kremlin’s aggression and promote Russian influence through mass media. Athletes who glorify Russian aggression in Ukraine will be subject to sanctions.
In addition, Ukrainian officials, together with European structures, are working on the details of a new package of European sanctions.
Zelensky stressed that EU restrictions should expand pressure on the energy assets of Putin and his associated oligarchs.
“A new Canadian sanctions package is also being prepared – thank you for this work. Ukraine will also continue the processes of synchronizing sanctions: relevant decisions of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine and decrees will be issued soon,” the president concluded.
Earlier, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky signed a decree on the implementation of the NSDC decision to impose sanctions against 656 naval vessels that are part of Russia’s so-called “shadow fleet.” This is the largest sanctions package ever imposed against this part of the Russian fleet.
As a reminder, on Tuesday, November 25, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky signed a decree introducing new sanctions. The restrictions apply to vessels that have been illegally exporting Ukrainian products from temporarily occupied ports since the beginning of the full-scale invasion.
By the way, the Council of the European Union has extended economic sanctions against Russia for another six months. The restrictions will be in effect at least until July 31, 2026.
