Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is set to discuss with US President Donald Trump the timelines for imposing sanctions on Russia and the provision of additional defense systems.

He made this statement at a press conference with Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen.

Zelenskyy emphasized that Ukraine needs active support from the United States at this critical stage of the war with Russia. According to him, the United States provides political and bipartisan backing, in particular through the PURL mechanism, under which European countries purchase American weapons for Ukraine. However, these supplies are not sufficient, so discussions are ongoing regarding an additional 10 Patriot systems and the involvement of US production facilities.

The president also highlighted that the talks addressed applying pressure on Russia to compel President Vladimir Putin to negotiate, particularly concerning sanctions and tariffs. Trump promised to respond “in a few weeks,” and Zelenskyy plans to follow up on this issue in the near future.

Let us recall that Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed Ukraine’s readiness to take part in a trilateral meeting with the United States and Russia. He intends to discuss the details of these negotiations with American leader Donald Trump in Washington on Monday, August 18.
