Zelensky appointed interim head of the SZRU: who took up the position

On Wednesday, February 4, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy appointed Oleh Luhovsky as the interim head of the Foreign Intelligence Service of Ukraine.

This is stated in the decree.

“The First Deputy Head of the Foreign Intelligence Service of Ukraine, Oleh Vasylovych LUHOVSKY, shall temporarily perform the duties of the Head of the Foreign Intelligence Service of Ukraine,” the document states.

Major General Oleg Lugovsky has been working in senior positions in the Foreign Intelligence Service since 2024. He was the deputy head of the SZRU, and a few months later became the first deputy.

As a reminder, Zelenskyy stated that the former head of the SZRU, Oleh Ivashchenko, will continue to serve in his position in the military intelligence of Ukraine.

Instead, the head of the Main Intelligence Directorate, Kirill Budanov, accepted the offer to become the head of the OP.
