Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy arrived in Syria on an official visit on April 5, where he plans to meet with the country’s President Ahmed al-Sharaa. The visit involves holding a number of negotiations, including in a trilateral format.

According to the Syrian agency, Volodymyr Zelenskyy arrived in the country on Sunday, April 5, and is scheduled to meet with Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa.
This is the first visit of the President of Ukraine to Syria since 2002.
Meanwhile, according to Anadolu , Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan has also arrived in Syria. A trilateral meeting is expected to be held with the participation of Volodymyr Zelensky, Ahmed al-Sharaa, and Hakan Fidan.
Later, the President of Ukraine confirmed his visit and said that he was in the Syrian capital.
“Today in Damascus. We continue our active Ukrainian diplomacy for the sake of real security and economic cooperation. Important meetings are ahead – several meaningful formats have been prepared. Every people, every region deserves a peaceful life,” said Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
As journalists note, the negotiations may be related to security issues against the backdrop of the situation in the region.
The leaders previously met on September 24 on the sidelines of the 80th session of the UN General Assembly in New York, where they discussed the development of bilateral relations, particularly in the fields of agriculture and security.
The day before, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky met with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in Istanbul. The parties agreed to deepen cooperation in the areas of security, energy, and support for peace initiatives.
