President Volodymyr Zelensky, during a closed conversation with US President Donald Trump on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly, allegedly asked the US for long-range Tomahawk cruise missiles.

This is stated in the material of The Telegraph.

According to reports, the Ukrainian leader argued for the request by saying that long-range missiles could force the Russian leadership to the negotiating table and become an important tool for achieving peace. Telegraph sources claim that the conversation between the two presidents was held in a positive tone and took place on the sidelines of the UN. After the meeting, Zelensky allegedly said that Trump was favorable to the idea of providing Kyiv with long-range cruise systems and “promised to work on it,” Axios quotes.

The publication recalls that similar requests were previously rejected by former President Joe Biden, citing the risk of escalation, since such weapons could theoretically hit targets deep inside Russia. The publication also cites the technical characteristics of the Tomahawks, which were used in the material as an indicator of their range and strike power, but notes that the provision of such complexes raises serious concerns about the further escalation of the conflict.

The Telegraph also reports that Zelensky is allegedly considering the possibility of striking symbolic targets in Moscow, in particular the Kremlin, if Kyiv is provided with the appropriate means – however, it is emphasized that this is only a position in publications and there are no official decisions or confirmations from the American side yet. It is currently unknown whether Ukraine will be able to obtain the requested missiles, and what political or security consequences this could have.

The material emphasizes that the discussion of the issue of long-range weapons continues in the political and military dimensions, but final decisions depend on a number of factors, including the assessment of the risks of escalation and the position of the American administration.

As a reminder, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that the Defense Forces of Ukraine are striking targets in the territory of the Russian Federation with their own Ukrainian-made weapons.

As reported, Ukraine has received a new generation cruise missile called “Flamingo” . Its range is 3,000 km, and the warhead weighs one ton — twice as powerful as the American Tomahawk. The missile is an analogue of the FP-5 from the Milanion Group, which is already ready to produce dozens of such weapons every month.
