Zelensky awarded Elon Musk the Order of Liberty.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy awarded American businessman Elon Musk the Order of Liberty, Ukraine’s highest state award granted to foreigners.

The head of state signed the corresponding decree on August 25.

According to the document, Musk was awarded for “outstanding personal achievement” in protecting human life and freedom, as well as for his contribution to the development of relations between Ukraine and the United States.

Elon Musk is the owner of SpaceX, the company that operates the Starlink satellite system. In early 2026, following an appeal from the Ukrainian authorities, he agreed to restrict the use of Starlink terminals by the Russian military.

Following this, Ukraine began using only verified terminals included in the so-called Starlink “white list.”

Elon Musk previously stated that the Russian military received Starlink terminals not directly from SpaceX, but through smuggling channels.

In addition, Russia is deploying the Rassvet satellite system, which experts estimate could provide an alternative communications channel for Russian military forces over Ukrainian territory.
