Zelensky continued martial law and mobilization in Ukraine
Володимир Зеленський
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy signed laws extending martial law and general mobilization for another 90 days, until February 3, 2026.
This is evidenced by the cards of bills No. 14128 and No. 14129 on the parliament website.
This is the seventeenth extension of martial law since Russia’s full-scale invasion in 2022.
The Verkhovna Rada had previously adopted the corresponding resolution by a majority vote. Only one member of parliament, Oleksiy Honcharenko of the European Solidarity faction, voted against the measure for the third time.
Martial law allows authorities to temporarily restrict freedom of movement, impose forced labor, seize property for defense purposes, and prohibit the activities of political parties or organizations acting against Ukraine’s independence.
Also, during this period, it is impossible to hold elections, change the Constitution, or terminate the powers of the Verkhovna Rada, the government, the courts, and other government bodies.
During martial law, the authorities and military command have the right to check documents, inspect vehicles, belongings, and property, and also prohibit the holding of mass events and gatherings.
