President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that ending hostilities remains Ukraine’s top priority and expressed hope that peace can be achieved within the next year through active diplomacy and negotiations.
He stated this in an interview with France 2 TV channel.
According to Zelensky, his team is already involved in the negotiation process, and ending the war is a key task for both him personally and the entire country.
The President emphasized that Russia is attempting to issue its own ultimatums, ostensibly seeking a compromise, while simultaneously continuing attacks on civilians and using cold shoulders as a means of pressure. He emphasized that the more civilians Russia kills, the less realistic any agreements become.
Zelenskyy emphasized that the diplomatic path does not mean capitulation or acceptance of Russian demands. He stated that even fixing the frontline at its current positions was a significant concession on Ukraine’s part, but he remains open to dialogue to preserve the state’s independence and sovereignty.
As a reminder, the Ukrainian delegation arrived in Abu Dhabi yesterday for further talks with Russia and the United States.
Negotiations between delegations in the United Arab Emirates may be more successful than previously predicted, it was reported.
