Zelensky is convinced that the current Russian offensive in eastern Ukraine may be the last

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky believes that the current offensive of Russian troops in the East may be the last large-scale offensive operation of the Russian Federation, and next year we will be able to talk about the prospects for peace.
This is reported by Politico.
According to the publication, Zelensky voiced this opinion during a closed meeting with deputies from the “Servant of the People”. He suggested that the intensification of the ground offensive of Russian forces in the East is the last major attempt by the Russian Federation to advance in the war.
Zelensky noted that Ukraine will have to go through a difficult winter due to increased Russian attacks on energy infrastructure, but he sees real chances for establishing a ceasefire, although the path to it will be difficult.
According to the president, Russia must feel significant economic and military pressure to agree to peace talks. Vladimir Putin must realize that continuing the war will not give him strategic advantages and will exhaust the country.
The publication also notes that US President Donald Trump is interested in stopping the war in Ukraine, hoping for the Nobel Peace Prize next year. The Ukrainian side is trying to take advantage of this situation: a high-ranking delegation is holding talks in Washington on assistance in restoring energy and putting pressure on Russia to achieve peace.
Zelensky himself will visit Washington on October 17 and hold a personal meeting with Trump. This raises Ukrainian expectations that the situation may change in Ukraine’s favor.
As a reminder, on Friday, October 17th, US President Donald Trump will meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to discuss Ukraine’s offensive.
