Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is ready to discuss territorial issues during a potential meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin, First Deputy Foreign Minister of Ukraine Serhiy Kyslytsya said in an interview with NBC News.
According to him, the peace talks process, although progressing slowly, is continuing. Kyslytsya noted the importance of the latest events in Washington, where a meeting was held in the White House with the participation of US President Donald Trump.
The official specified that for a possible meeting between the two leaders, at least a week is needed to prepare a draft package of security guarantees for Ukraine.
At the same time, he stressed that any decisions by Zelensky are based on legislation and public position, which excludes the exchange of Ukrainian territory for peace. However, within the framework of negotiations, the president is ready to begin discussions on the issue of the line of combat clashes.
Kislitsa also said that if the meeting is disrupted, the United States should impose new sanctions against Russia so that it feels the consequences of its unwillingness to move forward in the world.
Earlier, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov told NBC News that a meeting between Putin and Zelensky is not planned yet.
It is worth adding that Donald Trump will use the topic of sanctions during a conversation with Russian dictator Vladimir Putin.
It should be noted that US President Donald Trump insisted that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky not attend talks with Russian dictator Vladimir Putin scheduled to take place in Alaska. The reason is concerns that Zelensky’s presence could disrupt dialogue with the Kremlin.
Let us recall that US President Donald Trump is ready to offer Ukraine security guarantees, but outside the North Atlantic Alliance.
