Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky spoke with journalists and outlined the situation with EU funding, weapons supplies, and responses to Russian attacks.
This is reported by “Social”.
Ukraine expects the first tranche of the European Union’s €90 billion package to arrive in late May or early June. The funds will be used to strengthen the army, develop its own defense production, purchase critical weapons from partners, and provide social support to the population.
According to the president, Ukraine’s attacks on Russia’s energy infrastructure have already caused tens of billions of dollars in damage to the Russian economy. Ukraine will continue to respond if Russia does not stop the attacks.
Deliveries of American weapons under the PURL program continue. At the same time, Ukraine continues to experience a shortage of air defense systems. Kyiv has already agreed with partners, in particular with Germany, on new supplies, but they take time.
In parallel, Ukraine is launching joint projects with European countries to develop its own air defense. Norway, Germany, and the Netherlands are joining the cooperation, and Kyiv also plans to discuss this issue with Sweden.
Separately, Zelenskyy commented on relations with Hungary. He expressed hope that Ukrainian diplomats would establish contact with future Prime Minister Peter Magyar after his appointment and resume dialogue between the countries.
