Despite the government’s statements about introducing a regime of austerity for state funds to ensure the defense budget, there are no plans to reduce funding for the presidential initiative “Tysyachovesna”. Over 5 billion hryvnias are to be allocated for its implementation in 2027.

“Ukrainian News” was informed about this by the Ministry of Culture of Ukraine.

Earlier, Prime Minister of Ukraine Serhiy Koretsky stated that until receiving appropriate funding from international partners, all expenditures that are not priority and critical will be suspended.

At the same time, the Ministry of Culture noted that these restrictions do not apply to the “Tysyachovesna” competition.

“Currently, there are no such restrictions,” said Deputy Minister of Culture Tetyana Filevska.

According to previously published data, in 2027, 5.4 billion hryvnias from the state budget are allocated for the implementation of Volodymyr Zelensky’s initiative “Tysyachovesna”. This is 35% more than in 2026.

In addition, this year’s “Tysyachovesna” competition, whose budget was 4 billion hryvnias, was accompanied by a number of scandals.

In particular, the participants of the competition questioned the transparency of the distribution of budget funds. A third of the winners of “Tysyachovesny” turned out to be connected to the jury members.

In addition, there were cases that participants considered to be a conflict of interest. In particular, the husband of the director of “Tysyachovesny” became one of the winners of the competition and received state funding for his project.

It was previously reported that the first large-scale state program to support the national cultural product “Tysyachovesna” is being launched in Ukraine. The initiative provides for annual funding of Ukrainian culture in the amount of billions of hryvnias and will cover a wide range of creative areas.
