Volodymyr Zelenskyy has sent an urgent letter to Donald Trump, warning that Ukraine’s air and missile defense systems are under growing strain amid intensifying Russian attacks and calling for stronger support to protect the country’s skies.

This is reported by Kyiv Independent.

According to the publication, Zelenskyy emphasized in the letter that Ukraine is critically dependent on allies’ assistance with air defense and, for ballistic missile defense, almost entirely on the United States.

“When it comes to ballistic missile defense, we rely almost exclusively on the United States,” the letter, which was seen by reporters, said.

The Ukrainian authorities fear that the existing stockpiles of Patriot interceptor missiles and other air defense systems may not be enough to repel new massive strikes by the Russian Federation.

Subsequently, Presidential Communications Advisor Dmytro Lytvyn confirmed that Zelensky had indeed sent an appeal to the United States.

“True, the US president and Congress are two addressees,” Lytvyn told reporters.

In the letter, Zelensky also asked Washington to help supply additional PAC-3 Patriot missiles, which Ukraine uses to defend against Russian ballistic attacks.

As is known, on the night of May 24, Russian troops carried out a large-scale combined attack on Ukraine, using missiles and kamikaze drones. Kyiv suffered the greatest destruction, damage, and fires were recorded in all districts of the capital.

By the way, three garages were damaged as a result of the Russian strike with an Oreshnik missile on Bila Tserkva in the Kyiv region.
