President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has decided to postpone the celebration of the Day of the Airborne Assault Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine to November 8.

This is stated on the website of the Verkhovna Rada.

Such a decision is necessary to honor the courage and heroism of the soldiers of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, shown in the fight for freedom, independence, and territorial integrity of Ukraine, as well as to develop military traditions.

The decree came into effect immediately after its publication – on November 6.

Instead, the Decree of the President of Ukraine of November 21, 2017 “On the Day of the Airborne Assault Troops of the Armed Forces of Ukraine” has now lost its effect.

“November 8, the Feast of All Angels of God, led by Archangel Michael, is no coincidence the Day of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Saint Michael is the senior military commander of the heavenly army and the patron saint of the military on earth. According to church traditions, it was he who led all the good angels to fight the forces that rebelled against God, and defeated them. We continue the fight against evil personified, and repel it along the entire front line,” the press service of the Airborne Assault Forces noted .

Earlier, by presidential decree , the Day of Special Operations Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine was postponed to May 27 .
