Zelensky signed new restrictions against Russia: focus on Arctic resources

President Volodymyr Zelensky has signed a series of new sanctions aimed at increasing economic pressure on Russia. Among other things, they include synchronizing restrictions with European partners and imposing Ukrainian sanctions against companies operating in the Russian Arctic.

The head of state announced this in his Telegram channel on November 6.

“I have signed several new sanctions decisions. We continue to synchronize Ukrainian sanctions with European ones. As of today, the 19th package of EU sanctions against Russia has been introduced in our jurisdiction,” Zelenskyy noted.

According to him, this package includes restrictions on the export of Russian resources, as well as combating schemes for supplying electronic components to Russia. The total impact of these decisions on the economy of the aggressor country is expected to reach tens of billions of euros per year.

In addition, Ukraine is introducing new sanctions of its own against Russian companies involved in the extraction of natural resources in the Arctic region. As the president clarified, this step has already received support from partners who plan to include Ukrainian proposals in their future sanctions packages.

“We are also preparing new NSDC decisions regarding persons involved in Russian propaganda, military production, and collaboration activities,” Zelensky added.

Separately, the president commented on the reaction of Moscow, which recently imposed its symbolic “sanctions” against Ukrainian government officials.

“Russian restrictions have no real effect. But we will give our own, tangible response – both to these propaganda actions and to all other manifestations of escalation,” the head of state emphasized.

In conclusion, Zelensky emphasized that Russia must end the war it started, and this requires real diplomatic actions, not yet another manipulation.

As a reminder, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced the introduction of additional sanctions against individuals and structures that contribute to Russian military production and the spread of Kremlin propaganda.

As reported, Russia is rapidly losing ground on the energy market — refined fuel exports have fallen to their lowest level since the start of the full-scale war . Western sanctions, Ukrainian drone strikes on oil ports, and technical shutdowns of plants have hit the Kremlin’s main source of income.
