Zelensky will not return Fedorov: the story with the ex-minister was put to an end on Bankova Street

President Volodymyr Zelensky does not plan to return Mykhailo Fedorov to the leadership of the Ministry of Defense. The OP considers the issue of his dismissal to be finally closed, and the department will continue to be headed by Yevhen Khmara.

This was reported by RBC-Ukraine, citing sources close to the head of state.

According to the publication, after the personnel changes, Zelensky held several closed meetings with Fedorov. The president offered the former minister several options for further work, including the position of deputy prime minister for digital innovations. At the same time, Fedorov refused, because, according to his entourage, without the powers of the minister, he will not be able to really influence the work of the defense department.

“And since Zelensky himself, as his team says, sees the story with the Minister of Defense as closed – Yevhen Khmara will lead the ministry – the question of Fedorov’s return is hardly relevant at the moment,” the source says.

At the same time, Fedorov assures that despite the sharp increase in his popularity after his resignation, the former minister does not plan to start a political career.

“And they assure us that the former minister is not going into politics. Although, says an interlocutor in his entourage, everything will depend on how events develop further…” – said an interlocutor of RBC-Ukraine in Fedorov’s entourage.

It was previously reported that former Defense Minister Mikhail Fedorov said that he would not accept any other government position except for the head of the Ministry of Defense.
