Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has proposed a face-to-face meeting with Russian dictator Vladimir Putin on neutral territory to end the war, sparking heated debate around the world. Donald Trump has backed the idea, saying both sides will have to find compromises.

Political strategist Oleksiy Golobutsky spoke about the analytical basis of this step on the air of “Pryamoy”, noting that the Ukrainian position is currently much stronger than a year ago.

“This is a public letter. This is not a letter to a specific addressee, this is a letter to the whole world,” he noted, commenting on the Ukrainian leader’s initiative.

According to the analyst, Zelensky was previously in a weaker position and demanded the almost impossible, while now Ukraine is stronger and demands quite real things, including a halt on the front line.

At the same time, the Kremlin’s reaction remains ultimatum. Putin’s spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that the letter did not arrive through official channels, and Zelensky must personally come to Moscow for the meeting. Golobutsky believes that the Russian dictator is unlikely to agree to stop the war due to his own stay in an information cocoon.

On the eve of the event, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky published an open letter to Kremlin dictator Vladimir Putin. In it, he called on the Russian leader to end the war and proposed a personal meeting.

Russian dictator Vladimir Putin, during a speech at an economic forum in St. Petersburg, commented on the letter from Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, spoke about possible negotiations, the goals of the war, and attacks by Ukrainian drones on the territory of the Russian Federation.

Later, Zelensky announced that he had agreed to conduct new operations by the Security Service of Ukraine . The head of state announced the corresponding decision after the report of the SBU leadership on the results of work on the front and the special operations carried out. Also in the address, Zelensky commented on the statements of Russian dictator Vladimir Putin, who had previously rejected the possibility of a meeting at the level of leaders.
