On Saturday, June 21, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced key personnel changes within the diplomatic corps and leadership of state institutions, signaling a renewed focus on strengthening Ukraine’s international presence and internal governance.
He’s shared this on social media.
“We will be making certain personnel changes, particularly within Ukraine’s diplomatic corps and in the leadership of key institutions, to strengthen Ukraine’s capacity — both in terms of our partnerships abroad and our internal stability,” the statement reads.
According to President Zelenskyy, a comprehensive review of the diplomatic corps will be conducted within the next month, including during a planned meeting with all Ukrainian ambassadors, to determine the necessary transformations.
As reported by Member of Parliament Oleksiy Honcharenko, current Minister of Defense Rustem Umerov is being considered for the post of Ukraine’s Ambassador to the United States. In turn, the head of the Security Service of Ukraine, Vasyl Malyuk, is reportedly being considered as a potential replacement for Umerov.
