Zelenskyy announced progress in creating Ukrainian ballistics

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a meeting on the preparation of Ukrainian ballistics and the implementation of the tasks of the FREYJA anti-ballistic program. At the same time, one of the Ukrainian FP-7 ballistic missiles is already undergoing the final stage of certification at the Ministry of Defense.

This was announced by Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

According to the president, during the meeting, the participants discussed the needs of Ukrainian missile programs, the stages of work already completed, and determined the schedule for the implementation of key tasks. The work involved the NSDC, the Cabinet of Ministers, the Ministry of Defense, the Foreign Intelligence Service, the Air Force Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the Brave1 team, and Ukrainian defense enterprises.

Zelenskyy emphasized that creating its own ballistic missile and a modern anti-ballistic system is a task that only a few countries in the world have managed to accomplish.

“Ukraine has this capability. Ukrainians have the appropriate scientific base and competencies. We can state that our weapons manufacturers have already reached the required level,” the head of state noted.

The President reported that Ukraine expects to achieve the necessary results in the development of ballistic and anti-ballistic programs during 2026-2027.

Meanwhile, Reuters reports that the Ukrainian FP-7 ballistic missile has already undergone about 15 test launches and is currently in the final stage of certification by the Ministry of Defense. According to the agency, the procedure may be completed within the next two to four weeks.

As Reuters notes, the FP-7 has a strike modification for destroying ground targets, and its first combat use could be carried out as early as the fall of 2026.

In addition, Zelenskyy reported that the meeting participants separately discussed access to critical components, localization of production, technological cooperation with partners, and the supply of PAC-2 and PAC-3 missiles to Ukraine. The president also called on partners to join the Anti-Ballistic Missile Coalition to create a joint European system of defense against ballistic threats.
