Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that repairs to the Druzhba oil pipeline, damaged by Russian attacks, are planned to be completed this spring.

The head of state stated this during a conversation with journalists.

According to Zelensky, the restoration of infrastructure is linked to the issue of European financing and subsequent oil supplies.

“If the issue of European financing in exchange for the possibility of oil supplies continues, then we have stated when we will repair the Druzhba oil pipeline,” he noted.

The President added that once the repairs are completed, responsibility for oil supplies will lie with the European side.

“We’ll do the repairs because that’s the agreement. I told them we’ll finish this spring. A lot has already been done,” Zelenskyy emphasized.

At the same time, he noted that it’s impossible to fully restore the entire infrastructure quickly, as damaged reservoirs require more time to repair. The focus is primarily on resuming transit, taking into account the existing risks.

Ukraine recently agreed to the European Union’s offer of financial and technical assistance to restore the Druzhba oil pipeline.

Previously, some European countries and the European Commission asked Ukraine to provide access to the damaged section of the pipeline, but were allegedly refused.

As is known, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán announced the possible termination of electricity supplies to Ukraine if oil transit through the Druzhba pipeline is not resumed .
