Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that Ukraine has approached the United States with a proposal to change the venue and postpone the Ukraine-US-Russia trilateral meeting due to the war in the Middle East.

He said this in an interview with Rai Italia.

“The next trilateral meeting was planned for March 5-9, depending on what is happening in the world. Right now, there is another war in the world in the Middle East. We talked with the American side – they are the ones inviting Ukraine and Russia to the meeting – about a possible change of venue and postponing the meeting for some time due to the war,” Zelensky said.

He added that he hopes for confirmation of the prisoner exchange agreed upon in previous meetings.

“The exchange of prisoners of war is always an important moment, it is positive for the families. We very much hope that in the coming days we will be able to begin this exchange process,” the president emphasized.

Recall that the Ukrainian delegation is preparing for a new round of negotiations with representatives of Russia and the United States.

As previously reported, the next round of trilateral talks could take place in Europe . Possible locations include Switzerland, Austria, the Vatican, or Turkey.

By the way, due to the aggravation of the situation in the Middle East , Ukraine did not receive the necessary signals from the US regarding a new round of trilateral negotiations.
