President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced the restart of Ukraine’s foreign missions and announced that he would soon hold a relevant meeting with the head of the State Duma, Kyrylo Budanov, and the diplomatic team.
The head of state stated this during an evening video address.
According to Zelensky, the day before, he discussed with Prime Minister Serhiy Koretsky the legal procedures necessary to appoint a new Minister of Defense and Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs.
“Tomorrow we will talk with Kirill Budanov and our diplomatic team about restarting Ukrainian foreign missions. Ukrainian embassies should be very effective and they will be,” the president said.
Zelensky also noted that the Ministry of Defense will continue to work on supporting combat brigades, and the long-range operations plan is being fully implemented. He discussed this issue with the commander of the Unmanned Systems Forces, Robert Brovdi (Magyar). In addition, the next day, the head of state plans to hold a meeting with combat commanders.
The President also announced that Yevheniy Khmara will temporarily perform the duties of Minister of Defense.
According to Zelensky, Khmara previously headed the Alpha Special Operations Center of the Security Service of Ukraine and was responsible for conducting long-range operations of the SBU.
“We agreed that Khmara will also control long-range operations of the Security Forces – this is a priority. He knows exactly what Ukraine needs and has sufficient security experience to control the internal situation in the components of the Defense Forces,” the president emphasized.
It was previously reported that the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine approved the new composition of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine.
