Zelenskyy announces progress of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Kupyansk direction

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that the Ukrainian military has almost completely cleared Kupyansk of Russian units, despite the Kremlin’s claims of the alleged “capture” of the city.

He said this during a briefing with French President Emmanuel Macron.

Zelensky added that the Russian army is really trying to advance, conducting several offensive operations, but none of them gives the enemy success. The President emphasized that the heaviest fighting continues in Pokrovsk and in a number of other areas, but it is near Kupyansk that Ukrainian forces have a noticeable advantage.

According to him, Russia continues to claim the “capture” of Kupyansk, while the Ukrainian military is actually “cleansing” the enemy from this city.

It was previously reported that the Defense Forces are holding their positions in the Pokrovskaya agglomeration, despite significant pressure from Russian troops.

Recall that in November, the Russian army occupied 505 sq. km of Ukrainian territory — almost twice as much as in September.
