Zelenskyy appointed a new interim head of the State Border Service of Ukraine

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has replaced the interim head of the State Border Service of Ukraine. Instead of Valeriy Vavryniuk, the State Border Service of Ukraine has been headed by his deputy Vadym Chenchyk.

This is stated in the presidential decrees of August 31.

Zelenskyy dismissed Vavryniuk from his duties as head of the State Border Service and immediately appointed Chenchyk as the interim head of the agency.

Vavryniuk has headed the State Border Service of Ukraine since January of this year. At that time, he replaced the previous head of the service amid a corruption case in the State Border Service.

Vadym Chenchyk is originally from Cherkasy region. He studied at Lviv Polytechnic University, Bohdan Khmelnytskyi Academy of Border Troops of Ukraine, and Kharkiv National Pedagogical University.

During his years of service, Chenchyk worked in various units of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine and held leadership positions. In particular, he headed the Mosty and Mukachevo border detachments, and also worked in the Eastern Regional Directorate.

Since September 2019, Chenchyk has held the position of Deputy Head of the State Border Service.

As a reminder, NABU and SAPO exposed a former top official and a current employee of the State Border Service of Ukraine for systematically receiving illegal benefits for facilitating the unhindered crossing of the state border.
