Zelenskyy appointed Kirill Budanov as head of the President’s Office

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with Kyrylo Budanov and offered him the position of head of the Office of the President. The purpose of the appointment is to increase attention to security, the development of the Defense Forces, and the diplomatic track in negotiations.

Zelensky stressed that Ukraine now needs to focus more on security issues and the development of the Defense Forces, as well as ensuring the security of the state as a whole. The Office of the President, he said, will serve to fulfill these key tasks.

The President noted that Kyrylo Budanov has special experience in these areas and sufficient strength to achieve results.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy also instructed the new head of the President’s Office, in cooperation with the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine and other necessary leaders and institutions, to update and submit for approval the strategic framework for the defense and development of the state and determine further steps.

“Now Ukraine needs more focus on security issues, the development of the Defense and Security Forces of Ukraine, as well as on the diplomatic track in negotiations, and the Office of the President will serve to fulfill primarily such tasks of our state,” Zelenskyy added.

Later, presidential advisor Dmytro Lytvyn said that all formal procedures for appointing Kyrylo Budanov as head of the OP had already begun.

As a reminder, after Andriy Yermak was dismissed from the post of head of the Office of the President of Ukraine , the powers of all his advisors and assistants, both full-time and part-time, were also terminated. At the same time , Serhiy Leshchenko, Mykhailo Podolyak, and Oleksandr Bevz received new positions in the Office.

It should be noted that on Tuesday, December 30, the President of Ukraine announced that he had decided on a candidate for the position of head of the OP. As reported, he could be the Commissioner for Sanctions Policy Vladyslav Vlasyuk.
