Zelenskyy appointed new commander of the Signal and Cybersecurity Troops
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has appointed Brigadier General Oleksiy Kovalenko as Commander of the Signal and Cybersecurity Troops of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
This is stated in Presidential Decree No. 931/2026.
Zelensky signed the document appointing Kovalenko on September 15.
Since 2023, Oleksiy Kovalenko has been acting commander of the Signal and Cybersecurity Forces. He also heads the Heroes Krut Military Institute of Telecommunications and Informatization.
The Signal and Cybersecurity Troops are responsible for the operation of communication systems, information systems, combat control, and alerting in the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
They also participate in protecting Ukraine from Russian attacks in cyberspace.
