President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reported progress on the military front during trilateral talks between Ukraine, the United States, and Russia to end the war.

He stated this to journalists.

According to the head of state, the parties discussed two key areas: military and political. In the military area, Zelenskyy noted, all participants demonstrated a constructive position. Specifically, this concerns mechanisms for monitoring a possible ceasefire.

“The military understands how to monitor a ceasefire and an end to the war if there is political will to do so. They have agreed on almost everything. Monitoring will definitely involve the American side,” the president emphasized.

In the political bloc, he said, no significant progress had been achieved. The talks focused on “sensitive issues,” specifically territory and the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant. The parties’ positions remain divergent, but they agreed to continue the dialogue.

On February 18, the second day of negotiations concluded in Geneva . Consultations lasted two hours that day, compared to about six on February 17.

After the first day of meetings, Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Rustem Umerov stated that the discussions focused on practical issues and the mechanics of possible solutions. He added that both the political and military blocs had completed their work.

As a reminder, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov stated that during the talks in Geneva, the parties will consider a broader range of topics than during preliminary consultations in Abu Dhabi.

US President Donald Trump reportedly stepped up pressure on Ukraine to reach an agreement with Russia “soon” ahead of US-brokered talks in Geneva on Tuesday.
