Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has announced his readiness to hold a personal meeting with Vladimir Putin in Turkey. He named the ceasefire along the front line and a mechanism for monitoring compliance with the agreements as the main topics of the talks.
This is reported by CNN Turk .
Zelensky hopes that Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan will facilitate talks with Putin. The Ukrainian leader believes that dialogue at the highest level is necessary, as previous contacts between the parties have not helped end the war.
“We are ready for this meeting in Turkey. I know that President Erdogan has his connections with Putin. Therefore, we support the meeting in Turkey,” Zelenskyy said.
According to him, direct negotiations between the presidents can help find solutions to issues that could not be agreed upon at the level of delegations and technical groups.
“That’s why I want to meet with him as a decision-maker,” the President of Ukraine noted.
In addition to a ceasefire along the front line and monitoring compliance with agreements, Zelenskyy named security guarantees, the reconstruction of Ukraine, and territorial issues among the topics of potential negotiations.
At the same time, he stressed that he would not agree to Putin’s demands to hand over Donbas and recognize Crimea as Russian. According to Zelensky, such concessions would contradict the Constitution of Ukraine.
As is known, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan agreed to strengthen cooperation to ensure safe navigation in the Black Sea during a meeting in Istanbul on October 31. The parties also agreed to work to maintain the efficiency of the grain corridor and discussed the prospects for further diplomatic negotiations.
