Zelenskyy offered the US security guarantees for Ukraine for 30–50 years

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that he had proposed to US President Donald Trump to provide Ukraine with security guarantees for a period of 30-50 years. According to him, the parties have now agreed on guarantees for 15 years with the possibility of extension.
He said this while talking to journalists.
Zelensky noted that the issue of security guarantees for Ukraine was discussed by the teams of both states.
According to him, a package of strong security guarantees from the US was agreed upon the day before. Currently, these guarantees are fixed in documents for a period of 15 years with the possibility of further extension.
“We spoke in teams. Yesterday we confirmed with the US President that we will have strong security guarantees from the US. Indeed, it is not forever, in the documents it is for 15 years with the possibility of extending these security guarantees,” Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.
He also reported that during a conversation with Donald Trump, he raised the issue of a much longer term for such guarantees, given the duration of the war.
“I told him that we already have a war going on and it has been going on for almost 15 years. Therefore, I would really like the guarantees to be longer. And I told him that we would really like to consider the possibility of 30-40-50 years. And this would then be a historic decision by President Trump. The president said that he would think about it,” Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.
No other details regarding the possible format or mechanisms for implementing long-term security guarantees have been reported at this time.
