Zelenskyy to award three soldiers the title of Hero of Ukraine posthumously

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that three more soldiers will be awarded the title of Hero of Ukraine posthumously.

He said this in an evening video address.

According to him, the title will be awarded to military pilot, Colonel Dmytro Fisher, Azovstal defender Nazariy Hryntsevich, and soldier of the 3rd Assault Brigade Vitaliy Karvatsky.

“We do not forget our fallen soldiers. We honor their memory and honor them with state awards. I just spoke about three such guys,” Zelenskyy noted.

He added that the documents are already being prepared.

Dmytro Fisher is a Ukrainian military pilot who commanded the 831st Squadron of the Tactical Aviation Brigade. In June 2022, while performing a combat mission in the Zaporizhia region, Russian air defense shot down his Su-27 aircraft.

Nazariy Hryntsevich is a soldier of the Azov regiment and the youngest defender of the Azovstal plant in Mariupol. In 2022, he was captured by the Russians, and after being released, he went back to the front. In May 2024, Nazariy died.

Vitaliy Karvatskyi was a Ukrainian serviceman, a fighter of the 3rd Assault Brigade, who joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine after the start of the full-scale invasion. Vitaliy was killed on June 11, 2025 in the Kharkiv direction.
