President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy is to hold talks with other parliamentary factions on Tuesday, May 26, after meeting with representatives of the Servant of the People monomajority.
This was reported by People’s Deputy Yaroslav Zheleznyak in his Telegram channel.
According to him, the meetings were to take place between 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. That is why the parliamentary session was planned to begin in the afternoon.
“We don’t expect anything from the results either. In general, it’s a strange idea from the very beginning – to schedule a meeting at the last minute without an agenda and believe that it will somehow help. And then, when the only reason for the meeting is that votes for unpopular laws have run out in the eighth year,” Zheleznyak said.
In his opinion, the meetings will be purely formal and will not bring any positive results.
At the same time, the deputy noted that empty promises may be made again, which will only worsen relations between the factions.
“It will be very easy to check the effectiveness… Will there be votes for parcels and SEPA after this or not,” the MP added.
Later, Zheleznyak reported that Zelenskyy had postponed meetings with some factions to a later time, which is why the Verkhovna Rada meeting will not take place that day.
“The president decided to meet with other factions for the first time, because votes are urgently needed to pass laws. Out of all 2,550 days in seven years, they chose the day when the Rada meets. Because of this, the meeting was postponed for three hours and, in fact, only one and a half hours of plenary time were left on Tuesday. Today we learned that some of the president’s meetings will be after 2:00 p.m…. with our faction – around 3:30 p.m. That is, as a result of these unbridled impulses of democracy, one of the two potentially productive plenary days was canceled,” Zheleznyak emphasized.
Previously, “Pryamiy” reported that the crisis in the Ukrainian legislature is deepening due to the lack of responsibility of some people’s deputies. A significant number of elected officials ended up in parliament in order to resolve financial issues or receive career preferences.
It was also reported that the parliamentary coalition faced serious difficulties in passing government bills. The Verkhovna Rada has effectively stopped supporting certain initiatives of the Cabinet of Ministers, as evidenced by the recent failure of the vote on the bank profit tax.
