ZNPP completely de-energized: the station switched to generators
ЗАЕС
On the morning of Tuesday, April 14, the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant completely lost external power.
This was reported by the IAEA.
According to the agency, the last power transmission line that supplied the plant with electricity stopped working. As a result, the ZNPP was left without any external power source.
Backup diesel generators have been automatically activated to support critical systems. An IAEA team remains on site monitoring the situation.
The department emphasizes that such incidents once again demonstrate the risks to nuclear safety in wartime.
“The loss of external power supply once again highlights the risks to nuclear security during conflict,” said IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi.
The agency also reported that it is negotiating with both sides to agree on a local ceasefire. This is necessary to repair another power line and restore power to the station.
As reported, on Tuesday, March 24, the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant lost connection to the main 750 kV Dniprovska power line.
