The Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant is again at risk of a blackout after it lost power to one of its two external power transmission lines at 4:18 p.m. on November 14. The plant is left with only one working line, which poses a risk of a complete shutdown.
This was reported by Energoatom.
According to the company, the occupied ZaNPP has lost the main 750 kV line “ZaNPP – Dniprovska”, which provided most of the power supply for the plant’s own needs. It now depends on a single backup line.
Energoatom emphasizes that continuous external power supply is critically important for the safe operation of the reactors. If the Russian occupiers allow or cause a complete disconnection of two lines, the plant will enter another, already eleventh, blackout. This will create a serious threat to radiation safety.
As previously reported, the situation in Ukraine’s energy system remains difficult after Russia’s latest massive attack.
As a reminder, a blackout occurred at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant due to Russian shelling of energy facilities in Slavutych.
