The Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant has once again completely lost contact with Ukraine’s power system — the last external power line was disconnected today at 4:56 p.m. This is the tenth blackout at the plant since the beginning of its occupation by the Russians.

This was reported by the press services of Energoatom and Ukrenergo.

Currently, the plant is operating on diesel generators – this is an emergency source of energy necessary to support the reactor cooling systems. Such a mode is a gross violation of the conditions for the safe operation of a nuclear facility, Energoatom emphasizes.

The company emphasized: Russian control over the Zheleznodorozhny NPP creates a constant threat to the nuclear safety of all of Europe, so the plant must be returned to Ukrainian control as soon as possible.

Ukrenergo added that repair work on the line is possible only after the security situation in the region stabilizes.

As a reminder, the IAEA observation mission operating on the territory of the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant reported another dangerous situation – on September 17, shelling continued in the area of the plant, and three columns of black smoke were seen above the surroundings .

As reported, the IAEA reported that the Zapadnaya NPP is experiencing increasing difficulties in ensuring water supply for the plant’s 6 power units .
