In response to Russian threats: France has withdrawn three nuclear submarines for the first time in 30 years

Against the background of Russia’s aggression against Ukraine and constant threats to NATO and the EU, France has launched three nuclear submarines at the same time. This happened for the first time in 30 years as a response to the nuclear threat from Russia.

The Times reports that two of France’s four Triomphant-class ballistic missile submarines have left their base on the island of Il-Long, south of Brest. Another ship is patrolling the Atlantic, as usual.

The last time three nuclear boats were launched was decades before the end of the Cold War. During the confrontation between the United States and the Soviet Union over medium-range missiles in Europe.
