The Mayor of Irpyn Oleksandr Markushyn says that Russian occupiers organized atrocities, never seen in the city before. They shot people and then drove on the bodies with tanks. Remains could be collected only with shovels after the Irpyn liberation.

Oleksandr Markushyn told the details during an online conference organized by the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Foreign Policy and Interparliamentary Cooperation on April 7.

“There are dead women and children in the previously occupied 30% of the city. When we liberated them, our residents told me that the occupiers began to divide families, men were taken away, and children and women were left behind. Men were taken to exchange for other prisoners of war. Those who did not like, and there are facts, there are testimonies of people as confirmation, were shot, and those who did not want to bend – were shot. A child died, and many men died. Even more brutal, just a manifestation of inhumanity, was the fact, that they shot our people and then drove tanks on these bodies. It was only when we drove this abomination of an army out that we were able to collect the remains of people. We had to scrape the bodies out of the asphalt with shovels”, he said.

The mayor also noted that there cases women are being raped by occupiers.

In addition to killing and abusing women, Russian invaders mercilessly robbed the homes of the Irpyn residents.

According to Markushin, they took everything from washing machines to underwear.
