Аcting attorney general Victor Chumak: suspicions against Poroshenko are “completely fabricated”
The suspicions against the fifth president, Petro Poroshenko, prepared by the State Bureau of Investigations were not signed by Ruslan Riaboshapka (ex-Prosecutor General) because they were actually “completely fabricated”.
It has been stated in an interview with Hlavkom by Viktor Chumak, appointed Acting Attorney General after a loud resignation of Riaboshapka in the Verkhovna Rada.
“We did not slow down any case, nor did we sign any suspicion unless it was verified to the last letter. The suspicion is not a single sheet but a hundred pages describing the construction of the crime for the court to accept. If you sign a groundless suspicion and the court recognizes it as such, you are also criminally responsible for unlawful prosecution”, – said Victor Chumak.
He noted that the suspicions prepared by the SBI against Poroshenko could not even be corrected because of the legal nullity of the allegations. “If there was even anything to correct. If there are no facts in the investigation and the suspicion, they could not even be fabricated. It will completely fall apart in court later,” said Victor Chumak.
Chumak also recalled that he was a political opponent of President Poroshenko but this is not a reason to sign illegal documents.
“Imagine tomorrow, they will bring me suspicion against Poroshenko – and what do I do? They will say – Chumak does not sign Poroshenko’s suspicions because he paid him. But I cannot sign an illegal document”, – he said.
Earlier, the World Congress of Ukrainians urged Zelenskyi’s government to avoid politically motivated justice.
We remind that the court had obliged to close the criminal case in which Petro Poroshenko was summoned to SBI.
According to the statement of the European Solidarity faction, all cases against Petro Poroshenko are political and ordered from the Office of the President of Zelenskyi. In an effort to cover up the gaps in the economy, social policy and national security, the current government is staging a show of political persecution of the opposition leader.
Previously, lawyer Ilia Novikov reported that the actions of the Attorney General’s Office and judges regarding Poroshenko had signs of criminal conspiracy.
