A fire broke out in Tyumen at the Rusinvest oil refinery, which is the only such industrial facility in the Ural Federal District.

This is reported by The Moscow Times.

The regional government said the fire was caused by a process failure at a purification system installation. At the same time, local authorities denied reports of a possible drone attack on the plant, located two thousand kilometers from the border.

It is noted that the fire engulfed a two-section diesel fuel hydrotreating plant with a total capacity of 3.6 million tons per year. 80 rescuers and 23 pieces of equipment were involved in extinguishing the fire. The plant produces Euro-5 automotive fuel, liquefied gas, coke and other products, and its total capacity is estimated at 6 to 7.5 million tons per year.

After the fire was extinguished at the Tyumen oil refinery, a critical deterioration in the state of the atmosphere was recorded. According to analysts of the monitoring service, the concentration of combustion products, dust and soot in the city air exceeded the permissible values by two times. Experts called on local residents to limit their stay on the street and take safety measures, while earlier the authorities decided to involve reservists to protect this facility.

It should be noted that the plant has been in the spotlight before: in October 2025, an attempted drone strike was recorded there, when residents reported explosions. This forced the authorities in November to call in reservists for enhanced protection of critical infrastructure.

As a reminder, on the night of June 6, drones attacked a number of facilities in Russia . In particular, a fire broke out at an oil depot in the Krasnodar Territory, and in the St. Petersburg area, air defenses and smoke were reported near the port of Kronstadt.

Meanwhile, in the annexed Crimea , a coupon system for AI-95 gasoline and restrictions on the sale of AI-92 began to operate on May 31. Due to the shortage of fuel, gas stations introduced limits for drivers and banned the sale of gasoline in cans. In addition, problems with gasoline and restrictions on the sale of fuel were recorded in at least 15 regions of the country , as well as in the occupied territories of Ukraine.
