The authorities continue to delay the appointment of the head of the Bureau of Economic Security, and the government is making incomprehensible demands on Oleksandr Tsyvinsky, who won the competition for this position, which further irritates Western allies and may slow down assistance to Ukraine.

This opinion was expressed on the air of “Pryamoy” by Oleksiy Petrov, a participant in the Russian-Ukrainian war.

“Some incomprehensible nonsense is going on, excuse my language. If you think that candidates for such a high position, and the head of BEB is a high and extremely responsible position, must pass a polygraph, then they must pass it at the stage before determining the winner. Let them pass the polygraph then. But there is a competition here, there is a winner. Several times now, not only our deputies, not only society, but also our Western partners have been hinting: where is the purpose of the person you chose in an open competition?” – Petrov noted.

“Okay – a polygraph. And then they will say: “Let’s go to the physical training standards, and then we’ll talk, and then let’s bring us your 10th grade diary, let’s see how you studied.” That is, we are again appearing before the eyes of our partners in some unknown light,” he added.

At the same time, Petrov expressed surprise at the government’s position, because on the contrary, they should be interested in the help of Western allies.

“I don’t understand when the authorities, which on the contrary should be interested in us receiving assistance from our partners as soon as possible, because this assistance directly concerns the front, so that in the eyes of our partners we look as honest, open and ready for any dialogue as possible… And at first we had an incomprehensible disgrace with the NABU and the SAPO. When they realized what they had done, they quickly tried to rewind the film. And here is another cherry on this incomprehensible cake,” the veteran of the Russian-Ukrainian war reflects.

“What will happen next? I want to believe that next week, as the Prime Minister of Ukraine says, everything will be fine, the winner will pass the polygraph test and the person who won the open competition will be appointed. Moreover, our Western partners have no questions about this competition,” Oleksiy Petrov summed up.

We remind you that the European Solidarity faction demands that the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine immediately, without preconditions or delays, comply with the provisions of the law and appoint the head of the Bureau of Economic Security . The statement states that the recent statements by Prime Minister of Ukraine Yulia Svyrydenko regarding the government’s requirement for the winner of the competition, Oleksandr Tsyvinsky, to pass a polygraph test are legal nihilism.

At the same time, Oleksandr Tsyvinsky, who won the competition for the position of Director of the Bureau of Economic Security, stated that the SBU, in response to his request, officially confirmed the absence of grounds for his non-appointment. He also appealed to the Cabinet of Ministers to ask government officials to appoint him to the position.

As “Pryamiy” reported, on July 30, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine did not approve the candidacy of Oleksandr Tsyvinsky for the position of Director of the Bureau of Economic Security, despite the official submission of the competition commission and the support of international partners. The commission stated that it was completing its powers and saw no reason for a new competition.

The European Commission has previously publicly defended the results of the competition for the position of head of the Bureau of Economic Security of Ukraine (BEU), which was canceled by the government. Brussels insists that Kyiv is obliged to adhere to a transparent appointment procedure, as this is part of its obligations to the EU on the path to membership.
