The American establishment’s views on ending the war in Ukraine are undergoing significant transformations due to economic and security factors. For example, the idea of “pacifying” the aggressor at the expense of Ukrainian lands is gradually losing relevance in the United States.
Commenting on Donald Trump’s statements about the lack of “cards” from the head of the Ukrainian state, political scientist Volodymyr Tsybulko expressed optimism about the future dialogue on the air of “Pryamoye”.
He noted that the idea of “pacifying” Russia at the expense of Ukraine is gradually losing relevance in the United States.
“The American side considered it cheaper for itself to appease Putin with a piece of Ukrainian territory, now there is a certain understanding that no matter how much pressure is put on Europe and how much harm is caused, the American economy itself will not be able to fully function without Europe,” the political scientist emphasized.
Tsybulko also drew attention to the possible intensification of the negotiation process around the anniversary of the full-scale invasion. According to him, against the backdrop of UN Security Council meetings on Russia’s use of new types of missiles, Ukrainian combat experience is becoming the foundation for updating the defense strategies of the entire West.
The US sees Ukraine as a partner that has learned to wage an effective war for optimal resources, which changes the balance of power in transatlantic relations, the political scientist summarized.
As a reminder, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that a bilateral document on security guarantees for Ukraine is ready for finalization at the highest level with US leader Donald Trump. As noted, during the talks in Paris, security guarantees and documents on the recovery and economic development of Ukraine were discussed.
In addition, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said he is discussing a free trade agreement with the United States. The potential deal could be part of a prosperity package aimed at boosting Ukraine’s post-war recovery.
